Welcome to Boanerges Custom Knives

My name is James Covert and I am a Knife maker. For 30 years I have been making knives. My father got me started when I asked him if he would buy me a relatively expensive knife. He declined my offer, but showed me how to make any knife I would ever want. The fire he started in me so many years ago still burns very hot.

I live in the south western part of Virginia, in Rural Retreat. Life is a bit slower here, unlike the fast pace of northern Virginia, where I grew up.

You do not need a lot of high dollar tools to make knives. What you need is a creative mind and the ability to adapt and overcome. The never give up attitude, is the main ingredient.

My small Forge, made from a galvanized planter bucket	My large forge, Made from a 55 gallon drum. I use this forge for working on swords and large knives. It is very useful when heat treating large pieces.
